Q: For which positions are you hiring?

A: Due to our exciting growth plan, Breakthrough Schools is hiring for a wide variety of positions. We are looking for general education and special education teachers, school leaders, school-based support staff, and network staff. We have teaching positions for grades Kindergarten to 8th grade, for both new and experienced teachers. Check our job board for all current positions.

Q: What are the requirements for teaching at a Breakthrough school?

A: Breakthrough Schools is always looking for excellent teachers! We need smart, mission-driven, motivated individuals to make this vision a reality. According to state compliance guidelines, all of our teachers need to hold a valid OH teaching certificate and hold a Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status prior to beginning their work in the classroom. Q: My certification is not from Ohio — Do I need to take more tests? How do I transfer my certification?

A: You should also visit the Ohio Department of Education website for more information about transferring an out of state license at https://www.ode.state.oh.us/

Q: Do I need a credential to teach at a Breakthrough School member school? Do you certify teachers?

A: Yes, all Breakthrough Schools comply with any applicable state and federal laws, which means all of our teaching staff must hold a Highly Qualified Teacher status which includes having a valid Ohio teaching license. Currently, Breakthrough Schools does not have our own internal certification process.

Q: What is the experience and background of a typical Breakthrough teacher?

A: The experience and background of our teachers varies, however they all share common qualities and characteristics that can be found on our Careers Overview page.

Q: Where can I find more information on the Breakthrough School’s curriculum?

Each of our schools use slightly different curriculum that are aligned to Ohio state standards. You can find more information about each of their curriculums on the individual school websites.

Q: What does the parent-school partnership look like at Breakthrough Schools?

A: Teachers and parents have the same goal: student success. Our schools partner with parents in many ways, such as coming to the school in the evenings for events like back-to-school night, report card nights, literacy nights and teacher appreciation week.
